Policy Advisor
Theresa Forbes is a policy advisor at the Department of the Treasury where she leads the Department's efforts on human rights, corruption, and environmental crimes. Theresa was integral in transforming the way Treasury uses its tools to combat human trafficking and was of the leading interagency policy advisors to produce the US's first National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking. Theresa previously served as an international affairs specialist at Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. As a Presidential Management Fellow, Theresa served as an attorney in the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, Human Rights Violator Law Division. Previously she has served at the Department of State's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor and the Department of Justice's Office of Immigration Litigation. Before her career in public service, Theresa worked for the World Bank Group's Integrity Vice Presidency and in the private sector in government and regulatory affairs. Theresa is a licensed attorney in the state of California and is admitted to the Court of International Trade.
